Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence

Home of the Business Innovation Center

  The Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence is dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and self-determination in Entrepreneurial Economic Development through the exploration and implementation of innovative concepts of enterprise stimulation, start-up and growth. Established in 1993, The Center is a major expansion of the Business Innovation Center, Mobile, Alabama's Business Incubator, and the entrepreneurial training and assistance programs which have been housed at the BIC since its' inception in 1986. The BIC is under the joint sponsorship of the City of Mobile, the County of Mobile and the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce.

    The major objective of the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence is to establish a facility to house an expanded business incubator program that is a national focal point for idea formulation and exchange concerned with economic development through entrepreneurial efforts. This has been accomplished by establishing a location for serious research and study of the entrepreneurial arts, by establishing a variety of programs that will be dedicated to training entrepreneurial managers, and by establishing a repository of information concerning entrepreneurial programs around the world.

In the spring of 2002, The Business Innovation Center was chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory to be one of only 10 business incubators in the U.S. to participate in the National Alliance of Clean Energy Business Incubators. This is an alliance of leading business incubators dedicated to providing business and financial services tailored to the needs of clean energy community.
