About The WBC >> Advisory Council
The Women’s Business Center is very fortunate to have a wonderful, strong, supportive, visionary, group of women to count on – the Women’s Business Center Advisory Council. If it weren’t for this tremendous group of volunteers, our small staff wouldn’t be able to accomplish nearly all that we do. The Advisory Council supports the mission of the Women’s Business Center in a variety of ways including: supplementing the work of the Board of Directors; assisting in fund raising by helping us identify funding sources – sponsors, scholarship money, grants, etc.; serving as local links to the seven counties in our service area; being and finding volunteers; helping to plan and execute our programs and events; writing or forwarding newsletter articles; being the eyes and ears of the Women’s Business Center in the community. They help us identify potential needs in the community that we can address. They tell us what others are saying about the Women’s Business Center and help us to get our word out to our potential clients and supporters. We ask for brainpower, elbow grease and shoe leather!

This is a working group. Each Council member is asked to make a one-year commitment (October - September). Meetings are held no more than once each month and no less than once each quarter. Sub-committees for special events may meet more often.

Individuals interested in supporting the economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurship by serving on the Women’s Business Center’s Advisory Council should contact the center at 251-660-2725 or by email.
