Women, and especially women of color, continue to be the fastest growing segment of the small business economy in this country. In a state where we are used to ranking at or near the bottom in anything good, in 2004 Alabama ranked 14th in the growth of 51% women-owned firms. The Women’s Business Center, Inc. has been the only business development organization focused exclusively on women in the entire southern half of the state of Alabama since 1993. We are justly proud of the role we have played in this growth.
